Short description of project
Recently we are witnessing breakouts of highly contagious infectious diseases which are endangering human and animal health. Veterinary sector holds very important role in prevention of diseases outbreak and spreading and doing so they are protecting animal and human lives. Just because of previously mentioned not long world campaign “One World-One Medicine-One Health” was lunched. This campaign is a worldwide strategy for expanding interdisciplinary collaborations and communications in all aspects of health care for humans, animals and the environment. This veterinary platform was invented to make the fight against those threats easier and more efective. This platform should increase transparency of animal disease and animal products traceability system in whole food chain and in the same time improove competitiveness of Croatian and regional veterinary sector.   Project High tech veterinary platform for high transparency and competitiveness, worth over half a million euro is lead by the scientists from University of Zagreb Faculty of Veterinary Medicine with the help of scientists from Croatian Veterinary Institute supported by Croatian Veterinary Chamber, Ministry of Agriculture – Veterinary Directorate and Croatian Agricultural Agency and ICAR – International Committee for Animal Recording. The goal is to develop new veterinary information platform with the help of new technologies in order to increase efficacy of animal and animal products surveillance system.   Besides new equipment project will finance scientific education and research, development of hardware and software prototypes necessary for veterinary practice. With it, animal health data collection and veterinary work will be easier. With this platform Croatian scientists and vets would enter completely new dimension and that way they would take a leading role in Europe and become internationally recognizable.   Besides previously mentioned new platform, project envisions establishment of knowledge and technology transfer system from scientific institutions to practice. Since the project goal is to establish more effective early warning and animal disease surveillance system, main beneficiaries will be consumers, producers, resellers, scientists, actually all stakeholders in whole food chain.
