Short description of project
The project Centre of Excellence in ICT is the first of its kind in Croatia and is intended to act as a pilot for similar projects in the region. The aim of the project is the improvement of quality of ICT education for students as a means of supporting knowledge-based economy development in the Varaždin County. Therefore measures were taken to ensure that ICT becomes a vital part of the education system, which led to the establishment of the Centre of Excellence in ICT in Varaždin in early 2009. The centre aims to provide additional ICT education to advanced primary and secondary school students. Within the ICT COE project ICT mentors are introduced to new pedagogical approaches and methods to be implemented in instruction. The expected outcome is to facilitate young people’s development into skilled professionals who are ready for future challenges in a globalized world.
