Thoughening of styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer(SAN) with ethylene-propylene-doene terpolymer (EPDM) is of prime commercial interest, however it is difficult to achieve the appropriate compatibility due to their chemically dissimilar structure. For years the most used method is grafting and additional efforts which have been made and directed towards compatibilasion of immiscible polymer blends by reactive extrusion. Our results showed that coated precipitated calcium carbonate (cPCC) filler could be used as compatibiliser in SAN/EPDM blends and that result in improved mechanical properties.
