Short description of project |
A broad research approach combining various disciplines is needed for the development of sustainable and environmentally friendly flame retardants (FR) based on nanoparticles for textiles and related materials. Such FR with low toxicological impact are essential for a multitude of industrial uses in (protective) textiles, automotive, military, electronics, … In order to accelerate growth of this promising new field of technology, taking into account sustainability, safety and health, a COST Action is considered the most appropriate way of cooperation to facilitate its commercial exploitation in Europe. The Action will create an international multidisciplinary scientific and technology network on Sustainable Flame Retardancy, exploring the possibilities for substituting conventional toxic FR in order to reduce the environmental impact thus making it of vital importance. This will stimulate European cooperation and technology transfer with valuable input from nationally funded research.
